    ilsGate City Fans

Just curious but why is the devils student section and half their fans sit on the away bleachers? Seems alittle disrespectfull.

    Re: ilsGate City Fans

Because two-thirds of the home stands are reserved seating for season ticket holders...The band takes one-half of the remaining one-third, leaving only one-sixth for fans who purchase their tickets at the gate...Its been that way since the stadium opened in 1966.

For about a decade now, the number of season of ticket holders have declined steadily leaving more and more open seats free and unclaimed... I wish they would reduce the number of reserved seats and move them toward the center. That would alleviate some, but certainly not all, the complaints and would make the home side even louder.

The home side if for "Season Ticket Holders", at least that was what I was told by a Gate City Fan a few years back. I HATE going over there for that very reason

Thats were the student section has been for a long time...when the "pep club" was running and up they had it over there with the band. It did not feel the same.

If they would have the home side for home side and away for away...it'd be cramped

Most of the time the seating left on the "visitors" side is more than adequate to seat the opposing fans unlike most stadiums where the visitor seating only seats a couple hundred.

    Re: ilsGate City Fans

The seating has been that way for 30+ years. It's one of the largest high school stadiums around as far as seating goes, and also one of the largest supported teams. It's just the way it is. Doesn't have a thing in the world to do with "respect".

    Re: ilsGate City Fans

And in that 30+ years there has only been one team to ever bring enough fans to fill up the visitors side. That was Broadway in the 1997 state championship game. What would be disrespectful would be GC fans not sitting on that side and having the visiting team look up and see the stands less than a quarter full.

    Re: ilsGate City Fans

It is a terrible situation in Gate City. They will barely have room to fit the Raider Nation. They do the same thing during basketball season. I think they try to intimidate the opposing team. Looks like it only causes hard feelings and perhaps confrontations that could be avoided if they would sit on their own side.
